The Power of that Name

Do you know how important it is to end your prayers with In Jesus’ Name?  Do you understand what power and significance those three words hold for you?  When we come to God in prayer and we end our prayer with Amen, instead of In Jesus’ Name, we are offering up what we have to the prayer.  We are saying to God here, this is what power I have for you to answer my prayer.   We don’t have power without the Blood of Jesus.

When you go to God with all that you have it’s coming before the King with an empty bag.  You are empty without Jesus.  Jesus is the sacrifice that makes it even possible for us to come before God.  We are getting to come to God by the name of Jesus.

Before Jesus was crucified their used to be a Veil that hung in the temple.  That Veil separated the people from God.  No one could go behind that Veil except for the high priest and I believe he was only able to go behind the Veil to offer up sacrifices to God to cover the sins of the people.   You had to be a VIP member to get behind the Veil.  The Veil served as a separation from God and his people.

God never intended for us to be separated from Him.  He never wanted for us to live apart from Him and for us to have to work through other people to enter before Him.  God wanted to have an intimate relationship with you.   He wanted, and still does, want to know how your life is.  He wants to know everything about you and before Jesus, that wasn’t possible.  You could pray to God and you should pray to God, but the prayers weren’t coming with power.  They weren’t represented prayers to God.  They were coming from sinners, which we all are.   We were coming to God, before Jesus, with prayers of a sinner and asking God to answer them.

Back then they were blessed according to their behavior or works.  Example if you robbed someone you have broken a rule, so you received an equal sentence back for your sin.  When you would speak evil of someone you are going to receive an equal sentence back for your sin.  They lived by rules and regulations, and I am so very thankful, that I am not living in those times now.   You would also be blessed according to your works, so if you were good and lived by the rules and regulations, your blessings would be a representation of your works.  This way of living was almost impossible and caused for the relationship between God and man to continue drifting apart.

People would worship idols or people that God was using to work in the world.  They were seeing by their eyes for worldly approval instead of by their hearts for God’s approval.   God knew that he had to send one sacrifice, one perfect, sacrifice to not cover, but to remove the sin from man, so that they were able to enter back into relationship with God.  He knew that the Veil had to be torn down to open the way to God.  He did that with Jesus.

When Jesus was crucified on the Cross right after he whispered, it is finished, and he released his Spirit to join God in Heaven, there was a mighty thunder in the sky, an earthquake in the ground, and the Veil of separation was torn down.   Jesus made the way possible to enter back into relationship with God.  He paved the road so that when we are entering into the presence of God we are entering in representing all that Jesus is.

If you go to a concert, you receive a ticket to get into the show.  There are levels of seating available.  Let’s say you were blessed enough to get front row tickets to this concert.  This means that your ticket is your pass to get to your row and seat.  You will hand over your ticket, they will scan it and let you through, to your next check in area.   You then repeat the process, and since you are in the front row, you have to go through this a couple times.  This ticket represents that you are in the front row.

Now, if someone from the last row wanted to move up to your seats, in the front row, they would have to show their tickets to get access to the seats.  They obviously would be declined since their tickets are for the last row.  This is like Jesus.   Before Jesus came, your ticket would have been declined because you bought tickets, by your sins and behavior, for the last row.  There was no way you were getting access to God.  But after Jesus came, and the Veil was removed, you were now given access to the front row.  Your ticket now became General Admission, which means you can stand wherever you can get a spot.  You are now able to come to God because you are no longer entering on your ability or lack thereof you, are entering on the perfect sacrifice of Jesus.

When we pray we are to represent Jesus.  He tells us in John 14:13.  And I will do (I Myself will grant) whatever you ask in My Name (as presenting all that I AM), so that the Father may be glorified and extolled I (through) the Son.  (14) (Yes) I will grant (I Myself will do for you) whatever you shall ask in My Name (as presenting all that I AM).

Jesus is saying to us, in these two scriptures, when we pray to God we are to ask for what we are praying for in his name.  We are to say to God In Jesus Name.  In your perfect sacrifice’s name, I ask for…  We have power and authority with that Name.  How do we know we have power and authority with the name of Jesus Christ?  Because he told us we did!

Earlier in John, Jesus was telling Timothy and Philip, that they see God when they see Jesus.  They were asking to see the face of God and Jesus say’s, do you not know that you are seeing the face of God in My face.  We are one in the same.   Jesus said, I am here not on My own accord, I am here doing the work of the Father.    Jesus is showing us that He is one with God, and that He only cares about doing His work, so that His Father will be glorified.

SO, this means that when we pray to God, and we represent the prayer in Jesus’ Name, we are also representing the prayer in God’s name.  They are one in the same, Jesus and God.  Their hearts, desires and plans are the same.  They are on the same team, the same vision, and the same rules.  There is no deviation between God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit.

All of that equals power and authority.  Take that power and authority and stop asking for prayers on your own accord.  Start taking hold of what Jesus died for you to have.  Your ticket gives you full access to God.  You no longer have to come to God, timid and uncertain if you will be blessed.  Jesus says right here, I will grant whatever you shall ask in My Name.

Come Boldly to the thrown of God, presenting all that you are through Christ Jesus.  Be proud of the name of Jesus Christ.  Throw that name around like you have power and authority, because you do!  You are his representation in the world and when you come in the name of Jesus, you come with the army of God right behind you.

That Name, that sweet Name.  That Name will cause demons to flee from you.  That Name will drive the devil crazy.  That Name will scare every affliction that comes near you.  That Name will heal diseases.  That Name will fix marriages.  That Name will conquer addictions.  That Name will restore what was lost.  That Name is the Name above every Name and that Name gives you clearance to God!!   The Veil has been removed and you have been issued an all access pass to Life and Life in Abundance, because of the Name of Jesus Christ.  Praise It!
